Industry-grade ceramic coating is a chemical polymer solution that is applied to the exterior of a vehicle to protect it from external paint damage. Typically applied by hand, it blends with the paint of your car and creates an additional hydrophobic layer of protection. Due to this chemical bonding and creation of a new layer, the car’s factory paint job remains untouched.
Essentially, a ceramic car coating is a second layer of skin on the surface of your car. It utilizes nanotechnology, which are tiny particles that come together to form a very thin and transparent layer that is completely invisible to the naked eye.
This layer seals the pores on your car’s paint, producing superior hydrophobic properties, as well as more resistant to ultra-violet rays, scratches, chemicals, and extreme heat. The ceramic coat forms a semi-permanent bond with the surface of your vehicle meaning that it will not wash away or break down over a short period of time.
With proper maintenance, most ceramic coatings will last 2 to 5 years or 30,000 to 50,000 miles. However, many factors play a role in how long ceramic coatings effectively protect car paint.
Mileage is the biggest enemy of ceramic coating. The more annual miles a car travels, the faster the coatings deteriorate. If a vehicle is driven only a few thousand miles a year in good weather, the ceramic coating will last many years before the protection degrades.
Paint correction refers to the process of removing the imperfections in a vehicle’s finish and restoring it to a better than new finish. These imperfections include but are not limited to, swirl marks, automated car wash marring, fine scratches, water spots, etched bird droppings holograming caused by poor washing techniques.
Often times multiple stages of polishing are required to achieve full correction. The first being the most abrasive and the last being a very fine finishing polish. The deeper scratches are removed in the first stage of polish and then the lighter surface abrasions caused by this harsh polish are removed by the finer polish that follow.
